...Cordoama Sunset... by FelixInden ...Cordoama Sunset... by FelixInden
This shot is a format optimized version of [link] to really fit the 2:1

I shot this sunset pano at the Praia da Cordoama, near Vila do Bispo and Sagres in Portugal.

I really love this coastline, itīs windy and harsh- but with a bit of luck the light getīs really wonderful :)

This image for me is special- it was shot at christmas 2012, after getting this shot we went on and had a great evening.
Sometimes everything goes the way it goes :)

To use filters on Nikons 14-24 2.8 i use the Lucroit system (www.lucroit.com), which is really great- to get the full potential from this lovely lens.

I think this is really fantastic. I love how the water has a wind swept feel, instead of the washed out, translucent look usually achieved with longer shutters. The sun literally could not have been any lower in the sky, resulting in a truly "painted" light. I could go on forever, great job.

Wonderful work Felix, I was just about to critique the other image, but then I saw you did this very nice crop. Outstanding!

Hi Matthias! Thanks a lot for your comment.
I really wasnīt sure about cropping more or just leaving it how it is. Certainly now, after some days passed i also prefer the panoversion.
But on the day i uploaded the uncropped frame seemed more harmonic to me...itīs always difficult... :)
Now i just wanna got out to the sea to shoot some dynamic sunset, but looking out of the window thatīs gonna be difficult :D I see buildings, grey sky and boring mood.

Thatīs what i love most about photography, beein thinking about the next trip :)
best regards
Felix

Great tones and perfect timing ... I love how the sun just sits on the horizon :)
I would maybe get a bit closer to the rocks, they are too centered with not much going on below them, but that's just a personal view, still a great photo nevertheless :)

Hi Jan!
Thanks for your feedback- critical comments are really what i need.
Hmm, thinking about what you said about the rocks..i think if i was there today i would compose the image a bit different- but i bet you know the feeling. Wonderful magic light in the sky and suddenly all you have read and learned about composition vanishes and you start capturing like a maniac. The first time you doubt about composition you still can change- the second thought mostly comes with the vanishing light...

Thx for making me think- iīm really glad it turned out like this, because itīs like a photographic milestone for me, but for sure iīll be thriving to capture a mood like this with an even more dynamic composition next time i have the luck to be out on a sunset like this :)

greetz!

I know that too well :) Even if I try to think think about the composition when I'm photographing something, in lots of cases, a minute after I open the photo on a PC, I'm thinking "damn, I should have taken a few steps to the left ... this branch shouldn't have been there, how could I not think of that... " :D
Sometimes I start to fire the shutter like maniac, sometimes I forget to click it at all when I'm not expecting the show, just standing there in awe, realizing only after few minutes that the camera on the tripod next to me is there for some reason :D

hehe, i know what you mean. sometimes itīs all overwhelming. on our way of learning landscapes, thatīs the thing to work on. getting the perfect composition when the time is right...
what i love after getting a nice shot is the feeling of havin been there, seen these phenomenons and even have a nice capture to remember and to never forget :)
